IMU - property tax - latest developments
The new property tax – IMU – the imposta municipal unica, introduced by the Decreto Salva Italia, comes into force from January 2012 and is payable in 2 instalments in June and December (or if your main residence, then 3 instalments if you prefer).

The new law and limits
From 6 December 2011 it became illegal to use cash for payment for amounts of €1,000 and above. This was introduced by the new decree - Save Italy - and includes every type of transaction between all types of parties.
